Join Me in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Many of you know that when I was in high school my mom battled breast cancer. Thankfully, she won her battle. Many women sadly lose their lives to this horrible disease. Breast cancer affects so many lives each year. From the Susan G. Komen website: "An estimated 178,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the United States during 2007. An estimated 40,460 women will die from breast cancer"

This past August my husband's best friend Stephen, who served as the best man at our wedding, lost his mom to this disease. Mrs. Webster was a vibrant, amazing woman. She was so full of life. She was a great wife, an awesome mom and a caring friend. My mother-in-law and Mrs. Webster have been the best of friends since James and Stephen were in kindergarten.

This January 19th, we are running/walking in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in her honor. We are raising money to support the research and the fight against breast cancer. The foundation formed in Mrs. Webster's honor is called Christine's Helping Heals. She loved a great pair of shoes! You can view the team's website here: https://www.kintera.org/faf/search/searchTeamPart.asp?ievent=233805&lis=1&kntae233805=7E6C918861EE451887926516F03F07A2&supId=0&team=2661048&cj=Y

Please help me reach my personal fundraising goal of $250.00 for Christine's Helping Heals by going to my race page: https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=233805&lis=1&kntae233805=23E25AD90A0A48B19777871E031DEA79&supId=199801906 and donating.

New cards

I love making cards! I made a couple of new ones in the last week or so and thought I would share them here. You can purchase them through my website or through my Etsy store at http://www.swtpeadesigns.etsy.com/

Is everyone ready for the upcoming holiday? We are still working on it here. I have a cold and now little Ava has it too. I'm hoping we are both well enough to truly enjoy Christmas with our family. We are leaving Saturday morning after I get off work at the hospital for South Florida to spend a few days with James' family. I'm looking forward to it! They babysat for us a couple of weeks ago so that James could take me out for a special birthday dinner. It was the first time we've been out without our little monkey. It felt awkward at first, like we forgot something, but it was nice to have a quiet dinner. We ate at the Melting Pot---YUM! Chocolate fondue is probably a sin or something its so good! haha

Of course I just have to show off my little munchkin. She's getting so big! She has two teeth now!! I can't believe she's almost 7 months already.

My Best Friend mini album

I love this little chipboard album! It is about 4.5x5.5 inches on the biggest page. The pages are "stacked" so that each one sticks out farther than the next. I will have it loaded on my website for sale in just a few minutes.

Etsy

Hey y'all! I know I know...I'm horrible about keeping up with my blog. But I'm trying to get back into the swing of things now that we are settled in from the move, I'm finally accustomed to working the night shift at the hospital and I can just sit and breathe. haha!

I'm working on an adorable little chipboard album. It's almost finished and I hope to post the pictures and list it on my website for sale this weekend. I also have several new cards up for grabs at my Etsy store. You can check it out at www.swtpeadesigns.etsy.com

Have something in particular you want to see? A theme or color scheme or particular card that you would love to have? Drop me a note and let me know! I'll do my best to create something to meet your needs!

Chaos

That is my description of moving. I know some people take their time and pack things just so. But James and I decided since it was an across town move we wouldn't really *need* to do all that. Um. Mistake. It has now taken us over a week to get things moved. LOL! Finally, finally we have pretty much all of it done. We just have to clean the old house and get unpacked here.

I started my new "job job" at the hospital this week as well. So things have been just a little more chaotic than normal. Soon though I will go on my graveyard shift and I can begin to really focus on my ART! I cannot wait to just create something. I am thinking of starting something now just to get my "fix", even before all is unpacked.

Wondering where all the product, kits and pre-made art is? Here is a picture for ya!

As soon as I get my scanner hooked back up I will share a picture of me, about a year old playing in this kitchen and living room...and a picture of my daughter playing in the same place!! Its really kind of neat to see; and I can't believe how much she is starting to look like me. In the meantime, here is a picture of Ava enjoying some carrots. :-)

Moving!!

Sweet Pea Designs is moving! We are packing up and moving this coming weekend. All orders will be shipped out beginning October 22nd. In the meantime, you can get a 20% discount on anything in the Sweet Pea Designs store, even my handmade artwork! The discount is good through the end of the month. Just use the coupon code move07 when you check out.

An interesting tidbit about our move...the house we are moving to is in the same town; but it was built by my own parents just before I was born! I have pictures of them laying the blocks for the house, as well as some photos of me when I was a baby and toddler running around the house and backyard. We are really excited for the move, and to be in a "familiar" place.

A Florida Christmas

Here is a sneak peek at my newest board book. It's a Florida Christmas. Around here we don't have snowmen and fires. But we do have flamingos and Christmas lights, and maybe a palm tree or two. So here is my take on the things that make a Florida style Christmas.

This book will be available for purchase on my website in the next week or so. Or email me and reserve it if you like! Of course this book will be overflowing with all of my signature embellishments and tons of fun ribbons and accents. This is only the sneak preview of the cover. :-)
